Make a real difference to students lives, and be part of an incredible legacy

An amazing start

The first ever donor to the University of Reading, chose to donate to Music.

She was a prominent suffragist, Reading’s first female mayor, and the first female councillor in England.

She gave about £3000 in today’s money, and her name was Edith Mary Sutton and you can read about her here.

Train tomorrows leaders: within our Outstanding Musicians Awards, students learn to conduct, rehearse, and guide their fellow students. An ideal training ground for leaders, collaborators, innovators, and the ‘positive changers’ of tomorrow.
Support a department that reaches out into the wider Reading community through free workshops and events, include the opportunity to make music guided by some players from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Help maintain a shared wonderful cultural human resource: music!

Everything – every penny – makes a real difference to students lives.

£3,000 (follow Edith’s footsteps!) will make a real impact towards funding the opportunity of students to play and learn alongside musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It also gives a free community music workshop alongside RPO players, and huge performance for more than 100 members.
£600 will entirely fund a student through a year of the ‘Outstanding Musician Awards’
£500 will fund a band through the ‘Outstanding Musician Awards’
£500 will fund a jam nights or live music event on campus
£300 will fund musical scores to help expand our musical repertoire
