No! There’s no Music degree at the University of Reading, so everything we do is for all students to enjoy.

It doesn’t matter! Loads of people get back into music at university. We’re all about friendly vibes and enjoying music making – it’s not about perfection.

Yes, we have 6 practice rooms that are available for students to use and are available 8am-9:30pm everyday of the week (except university closure days).

To join our ensembles, you will need to be a UoR Music Ensembles member. The link to join is posted on the Join page

Yes – lots of people do! With groups being run by UoR Music and RUMS there’s so much to get involved with.

Most of our ensembles are audition free! Where there is a group that auditions (like voices) or a where particular parts in an ensemble audition, like Big Band and orchestra, we make it as nice and relaxed as possible.

A free, no-pressure chance to come along, try it out and meet people. Look out for open weeks on the events page, and also in newsletters / social media.

Not at all – we’re flexible and friendly. Come to what works for you. When you do commit to actually joining an ensemble though, we do expect attendance and effort to come! Talk to the conductor for more info on this.

We recommend bring your own instrument if you can and we do have storage facilities. We can also help you to hire instruments.

Pretty much all rehearsals take place in building L29 on the London Road Campus. There’s a map, and the ‘what 3 words’ at the bottom of this page
